This Masterclass draws from Taiwo Akinlami's childhood experience of Child Sexual Abuse, which began at age 6 and lasted until age 8. It traces the grave impact on the rest of his childhood and early adulthood — and his fruitful healing journey, which began at age 27 when he became a person of faith.
Combined with nearly three decades of working to empower individuals, families, and institutions across the globe, it is a practical, trauma-informed, and culture-led learning experience that translates lived experience into clear prevention tools, healing pathways, and durable child-safeguarding practice.
Taiwo Akinlami is Africa's foremost Family Attorney, Family Strengthening and Child Safeguarding Innovator, and Parenting Ideologue — acknowledged by the National Assembly of Nigeria as one of the forces behind the promulgation of the Child's Rights Act, 2003.
He has trained judicial officers, journalists, attorneys, school leaders, government agents, community leaders, religious leaders, and traditional rulers across Nigeria in partnership with UNICEF. His curriculum for the Nigerian Institute of Journalism is now taught across virtually all mass communication faculties in Nigeria.
He supported the Lagos State Government in drafting its statewide Child Safeguarding Policy — signed into law as an Executive Order in 2016 — and has worked with UNICEF, the British Council, the Premier League, and SOS Children's Villages International.
